St.Nicholas children's home

The St. Nicholas Children’s Home is intended for Ukrainian children from incomplete and socially needy families in the town of Ivano-Frankivsk. These are mainly orphans and children from broken up families living on the outskirts of the town – Krychivci. The Humanitarian Aid and Development Cooperation Centre helps to run the Children’s Home and to guide the children to decent personal growth, to provide them with basic necessities and adequate education. It strives to build a real home for children who have lost it.

The St. Nicholas Children’s Home was established by sisters of the Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matará, Congregation of the Incarnate Word, on 13th November 2004. This Congregation was founded by priest Carlos Miguel Buela in Argentina on 25th March 1984. At present it has over 1,300 members and operates on five continents of the world. In accordance with the vision of the Congregation, the sisters serve in the Children’s Home and, by their acts of mercy, care for the children.

The basis of the functioning of the home itself is a firm inner compassion for the misfortunes of others, which compels and encourages one to come to another’s aid. The St. Nicholas Children’s Home, sometimes also called Mercy Town, takes it upon itself to restore and elevate human dignity in every humiliated and rejected person through providing them with the basic necessities (food, clothing, accommodation), healthcare, spiritual assistance and all-round development (moral, intellectual, occupational).

Those living in Mercy Town at present include orphans as well as children and young people from incomplete families (all of whom live here with the consent of their parents). In 2012 the sisters were given a second house in the nearby village of Horokholyna, where mothers in distress with their children also live.

Volunteers from all over the Czech Republic also come to Mercy Town for periods ranging from one week up to a few months to help the sisters care for the children.

Through your financial contribution you will support all children living in the Town. (This is not about helping a specific child). You can donate to our transparent bank account2800779701/2010 (Fio bank, Nadrazni 39, 702 00 Ostrava),  VS 444 – St. Nicholas children's home Ivano-Frankivsk
